  The Grampian Country Fair

Join the cast of Emmerdale for The Grampian Country Fair Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th June 2010. Some of the country’s top Strongmen will join the North East’s very own Strongman Steve Evans to amaze the crowds with superman strength using the heaviest weights and events ever seen on Scottish soil.   Open Farm Sunday at Bogtown Farm, Portsoy
Estate: Seafield Estate, Portsoy, Banffshire
The open day at Bogtown Farm will run from 12.00 noon until 4.00pm. Members of the public will be able to see machinery displays and equipment from both the past and the present day, and displays of associated local agricultural businesses including the Glenglasshaugh Distillery and Grampian Oat Products. There will also be exhibits from the Royal Northern Countryside Initiative (RNCI) and the estate’s Forestry and Gamekeeping departments as well as a Factfinder Quiz. There will also be hourly bus rides to neighbouring Ley Farm (courtesy of Messrs Gray) where visitors will be able to see the farm’s composting enterprise which diverts Aberdeenshire Council’s kitchen and garden waste away from landfill and converts it into a useful agricultural product.

  • Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve - Loch Fleet is jointly managed by Scottish Natural Heritage, the Scottish Wildlife Trust and Sutherland Estate. This reserve occupies a stunning coastal location where a river flows through a tidal basin. Common seals regularly haul out on the mudflats at low tide and you can enjoy great views of wildfowl and waders. Sand dunes and coastal heath are rich in wild flowers and the attractive pinewood plantations provide a home for flowers more usually seen in ancient native pinewoods. is open to the public.
